Projects of the Vail Valley Salvation Army

The Avon community garden is a place for local families, organizations, or individuals to grow their own produce or other plants. Crops from the garden go directly to the Salvation Army food pantry. The community garden serves as an educational, hands-on experience for children. Garden plots are available to anyone, including to low-income clients and non-profit organizations at a very affordable price.

In addition to serving as a learning center for new gardeners, the greenhouse in Avon functions, above all, as a demonstration of year-round growing. Using sustainable climate battery technology, the greenhouse atmosphere is temperature-controlled and maintains an environment conducive to growing healthy plants through all seasons.

The Avon Community Garden and Greenhouse are run by the Vail Valley Salvation Army. Contact their project manager, Trish Esperon, to learn more at patriciaesperon@yahoo.com
